Monday (October 13, 2025 – February 2, 2026) | 10.00 – 11.30
HF-Gebäude, Sprachlabor, Room 1.115, Gronewaldstr. 2
How can literature and language teaching contribute to equipping young learners with the skills needed to deal with present and future challenges posed by climate change? In this seminar, students will (1) be introduced to the theoretical foundations of climate change literacy (Hoydis et al., 2023), (2) explore the genre of Climate Fiction using the example of storybooks, (3) learn about a tool currently being developed at the Department of English II that is intended to help teachers evaluate and select works of climate fiction for their EFL classrooms, (4) apply this tool by evaluating pre-selected storybooks, and (5) design tasks that foster climate change literacy through the teaching of storybooks.
