Futures Literacy encompasses the competencies needed to imagine and prepare for different future scenarios, enabling individuals to navigate uncertainty, develop resilience and drive positive change in a time of climate crisis. In this seminar, students will explore how the English language classroom can contribute to the development of futures literacy, particularly as it relates to the teaching of literature. Participants will focus on the potentials of a selection of literary texts suitable for teaching at primary and secondary levels. Participants will also be expected to design concrete pre-, while-and post-reading activities in student groups. Groups will be assigned during the first session. During the breaks between sessions, you will have time to get a hold of a work of fiction, read it and work on some reading tasks.
