Tuesdays (April 4 – July 11, 2023) | 16.00 – 17.30
Gronewaldstr. 2, Faculty of Human Sciences, Seminar Room 216 Sprachlabor 109, (1st floor)

While the urgency and importance of sustainability-related education are increasingly being recognised, it seems necessary to rethink the specific potential of ELT theories and methodologies in light of more general claims about cross-cutting curricular demands without sound footing in the teaching of languages, literatures, and cultures. This class will begin by providing such a footing and then engage with question of text selection, text combination, and task design in sustainability related education and take temporality – or the unusually vast time scales of climate change – as its analytical leitmotif: what does literary learning bring to the table of a truly sustainable ELT education?
